Dallas: RECUERDO Continues Dominance Of Metroplex; KVIL Soars On Christmas Music

UNIVISION Spanish Adult Hits KLNO (RECUERDO) retains the top position among all three key demos in DALLAS-FT. WORTH for December. The station soared to double digit shares among adults 18-34 - and is doing very well among the young demos - just as sister KRCD/LOS ANGELES has seen. As a matter of fact, KLNO beat its closest competitor by a staggering 93% 18-34, 57% 18-49, and 19% 25-54. With December being the first currency month for Dallas, here's a look at how stations stack up:

25-54: KLNO continues its climb in share and holds the leadership position. CBS AC KVIL got the holiday music boost and rises from a tie for 9th in November to 2nd in December. growing 51% month-to-month. CITADEL Country KSCS has taken control of the format lead. After losing in pre-currency in October, KSCS has beaten CUMULUS rival KPLX (THE WOLF) the last two months. KSCS moves from 4th in November to 3rd in December, while KPLX - who was #2 in October dropped to 5th in November and now 6th in December. However, Country looks very strong in the METROPLEX with the two Country stations both top 6 25-54. CLEAR CHANNEL Classic Rock - who struggled in the diary - continues its huge success in the meter - ranking 4th 25-54. Sister top 40 KHKS dips from 2nd to 5th. SALEM Christian AC KLTY climbs from 12th to 7th, ahead of SERVICE Urban KKDA-FM (K104) and CBS Classic Hits KLUV, which tie for 8th. CLEAR CHANNEL Hot AC KDMX rounds out the top 10.

LIBERMAN continues to see growth for Spanish Contemporary KTCY - which moves all the way from 16th to 11th, tying them with UNIVISION Regional Mexican KESS. RADIO ONE Urban KBFB scores a nice jump in the upper demo from 18th to 13th, tying them with CBS Adult Hits KJKK (JACK-FM), RADIO ONE Urban AC KSOC dips from 11th to 15th. A tie for 16th between LIBERMAN Regional Mexican KNOR (up from 21st) and CUMULUS Sports KTCK. CLEAR CHANNEL Rock KEGL dips down to 18th place, just ahead of Alternative cluster pal KDGE and CBS Talk KLLI (prior to the latter's flip to Sports KRLD-FM). Still out of the competitive mix is CBS Rhythmic AC KMVK (MOVIN) in 25th place.

18-49: KLNO wins by a landslide here but KVIL gets a huge bump from Christmas music and vaults from 14th to 2nd - with a 71% increase. KHKS dips from 2nd to 3rd. KSCS continues its steady PPM climb, rising from 6th to 4th. K104 and KZPS tie for 5th. KBFB and KPLX finish in a tie for 7th, ahead of KESS which slides from 4th to 9th. KTCY jumps big here too - rising all the way from 16th to 10th. KDMX inches up from 13th to 11th, ahead of KDGE (9th to 12th), which ties with KLTY (up from 18th to 12th) with a heavy dose of Christian holiday hits. KNOR dips from 9th to 14th, while KEGL (11th to 15th) and KLUV (11th to 16th) also slide. KJKK is 17th, KSOC 18th, and tie for 19th between LIBERMAN Regional Mexican KBOC and KLLI.

18-34: KLNO scores a gigantic jump in December, soaring 43% and leaping into double digits. K104 holds in 2nd place, just ahead of KHKS, which rises from 4th to 3rd. KBFB has a second straight up month, and moves into 4th place, ahead of KNOR which finishes 5th. Urban or Spanish-language stations control four of the top spots in the METROPLEX. KZPS holds in 6th, a solid ranking for a Classic Rock station. KDGE is 7th, but tied this time with KVIL, which uses holiday music to soar from 26th in November. KESS is 9th, with KSCS rounding out the top 10.
