FCC Clarifies Telemarketing Rules
The Federal Communications Commission has clarified its'
rules regarding pre-recorded messages delivered by telephone,
for purposes of marketing and advertising radio and TV station
programming.
In its' Report and Order adopted June 26, 2003, Part IX,
"Artificial or pre-recorded voice messages", Section B3, entitled
"Radio Station and Television Broadcaster Calls", paragraph 145, the
Commissioners state that "We conclude that if the purpose of the
message is merely to invite a consumer to listen, or to view a
broadcast, such message is permitted under the current rules...
and under the amended rules..."
